Each year, GlaxoSmithKline teams up with the VT Health Department to formally recognize teams taking an active role in supporting community efforts in the areas of health and human services and education.

The Vermont Child Care Industry & Careers Council was recognized for the inclusion of Health & Safety Training for the participants in the VT Child Care Apprenticeship Program

These courses meet the national Standards of Apprenticeship and include specific training for the Health & Safety of all children in child care, including a series of Protective Services training designed for care of children at risk of neglect and abuse.

Jan Walker, Statewide Coordinator for the Child Care Apprenticeship Program accepted the award on behalf of the Council. Robert Luria, Executive Manager, State Gov. Affairs for GlaxoSmithKline presented the awards at the Sheraton Conference Center in Burlington, Vermont. VCCICC was one of 6 grant award recipients. Each grantee received $1,000.00 to support their community efforts.
