Meet The Participants

Tots on the Go Family Child Care serves up to 13 children ages infant to 10 years old, located on Sand Rd. in Ferrisburgh. Tots on the Go chose to be a part of the Apprenticeship Program, “To further the education of my staff, which will improve the quality of care we provide.”

Apprentice Kelsey Reed has provided child care for many individual families, worked at Sunshine Children’s Center as a care provider, and at Basin Harbor Club as a recreation staff member. She made the commitment to the Apprenticeship in May of 2009. She writes about her experience in making the decision to commit, “I love my job working in the child care (field) and knew that reaching the required ‘on the job’ hours would be no problem. I enjoy sitting through classes as I really am eager to learn anything new about children themselves and what I need to know as a provider.”

Mentor/Director Lisa Brace holds an associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Community College of Vermont. She worked for the Charlotte Children’s Center and was self-employed with her own registered family child care program and now is self-employed with her licensed child care: Tots on the Go where she has earned 3 Stars through the Step Ahead Recognition System. Lisa is currently coaching Apprentice Kelsey Reed.
