Northshire Day School Joins the Family of Apprenticeship in October 2006

Established in 1968, Northshire Day School (NDS) is now located at 5484 Main Street in Manchester Center and serves 80 children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Northshire is a quality, licensed non-profit child care and early education center, which serves area families by providing a safe and loving environment for their children.

The school’s professionally trained caregivers create a stimulating and nurturing atmosphere through developmentally appropriate programs and activities. NDS provides space for instructor training, parenting sessions and other community programs such as VINS (VT Institute of Natural Science), Music Together, Father Time and Head Start P.L.U.S. to enrich family opportunities in the region.

Apprentice Kelly Licata transferred to Northshire Day School in September 2006 to complete her Apprenticeship training, which began at Happy Days in Arlington in 2004. She has completed her six college courses needed to graduate the training program and has accumulated over 3500 on-the-job training hours. Kelly graduated from Saratoga High School and attended SUNY Cobleskill, receiving a One Year Certificate in Early Childhood. Kelly writes, “ I’m a very hard worker and I like to learn new things. I look forward to taking the classes. I’ve wanted to go back to school for a while now. I feel I will be a better teacher by taking these classes.”
