The Milton Family Community Center (MFCC) was established in 1985 as a non-profit parent/child center. They are located at 23 Villemaire Lane in Milton. MFCC is a resource for ALL families, whatever their level of need for support. MFCC offers core programs designed for young children, teens, and their families. These include parent/child playgroups, home-based services, parent education, parent support, early childhood programs, after-school programs, resource & referral, on-site services, teen programs and community development. MFCC joined the family of Registered Apprenticeship in February 2005! Apprentice Jessica Bordeaux joined the Apprenticeship Program in January of 2009. After working in several different professional industries, it was her experience at MFCC as a substitute teacher and in their food service program that helped her make the decision to devote her time and energy to the Apprenticeship Program. Her goal is to pursue a career as a preschool teacher at MFCC. Jessica writes, “I feel all children deserve the best start to learning that they can get and I feel the classes in this program will teach me how to help them.” Mentor Erin Marcelino earned a BS degree in Early Childhood Education from Colby-Sawyer College. Erin has been the Preschool Program Coordinator since 2007 and brings to the Center a high quality of knowledge and skills in the industry from her wide variety of child care experiences prior to working at the Milton Family Community Center. Erin writes, “I am extremely excited to be a part of this program and I look forward to working with my apprentice… I feel that we will both take away a lot from this experience and that we will learn from each other.” Teaching Director Jennifer Golding Hayes writes, “I see this program giving huge incentives for teachers to become involved in higher education. I took the Leadership, Mentoring and Supervision course and spoke with many students that were child care apprentices. They all expressed having a positive experience with this Program.” |
