Congratulations! September 2009 May 2009 August 2008 Irasburg Village School joins our family, as a Sponsor of On-the-Job trainees, in November 2007 and continues to sponsor registered apprentices after completion of the OJT training! “It is the intent of the Irasburg Village School (IVS) to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children to learn. IVS follows the Responsive Classroom/Developmental Designs approach which emphasizes the social, emotional and academic growth in a strong and safe community. It is our goal to teach responsibility and self-discipline. Student behavior should reflect respect for the rights of all involved in the educational process. Positive behavior is the shared responsibilities of students, parents, staff and the community.” Apprentice Wendy Burkewitz completed the On the Job training program in May 2009 and is continuing her education and training, joining the Registered Apprenticeship Program in December 2009. Wendy writes, “The Program appeals to me because it has provided me with the opportunity to advance my education in the childhood field. I have learned a great deal from my mentors, instructors, colleagues, children that I have worked with, classmates and other educators in relation to this program. I have appreciated the continues support and encouragement. It has helped me to feel a sense of accomplishment towards a meaningful purpose.” Mentor Rose Stone will continue to support Wendy as she continues her education and training. As the 2nd grade teacher, Rose provides mentoring and training to Wendy as she provides additional support to students in Rose’s class each day. |
