Frog & Toad Child Care, Colchester
Tiffany Bergeron, Director

Frog and Toad Child Care and Learning Center welcomes children from 7:30 a.m. -5:30 p.m. at 162 Fern Court in Colchester, Vermont, serving roughly 30 children from ages 2 to Kindergarten. Director Tiffany Bergeron supports the Apprenticeship Program as she writes, “The Apprenticeship Program makes the necessity of having qualified teachers an obtainable goal. Not only are the classes free, but they are of the same caliber of other college courses. Further, they are set at a pace that is reasonable for adult learners.”

Apprentice Erin Pasquale has been working at Frog and Toad since April 2003 as a preschool teacher and the assistant director for the latter 2 years. She holds her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and looks forward to being able to attend classes and pursue her degree through the Vermont Apprenticeship Program. Erin writes, “I hope to gain a great deal of knowledge in the field of early education. This will allow me to become a better teacher and person.”

Apprentice Sara Driscoll signed on as an apprentice in the Summer of 2009 with a previous employer and continues as an apprentice upon employment at Frog & Toad in January 2011. Sara appreciates the opportunities offered by the Apprenticeship Program. She writes, “The Registered Apprenticeship Program appeals to me for one sole reason, making me an asset to my employer and the children and families I care for. This program is giving me an opportunity to better my education in an affordable way. This allows me to continue working in a setting that I love, with people and families that I truly care about.”

Mentor/Director Tiffany Bergeron earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2006 and qualified for a VT teacher’s license in 2007. She has owned and directed at Frog and Toad’s for several years. Previous to that she owned and directed Lil’ Savants Enrichment Center. With a wide variety of child care experiences, Tiffany has committed to mentoring. Tiffany writes, “As a mentor I hope to hone my skills as a leader. I want to provide a fulfilling experience for the apprentices with whom I work.”
