Creative Hands Learning Center, Milton
Jami Parrow, Director

WELCOME!
We are excited to extend our family of sponsors for the apprenticeship program.
Creative Hands Learning Center joined the Vermont Apprenticeship Program
as of Summer 2010!

Creative Hands Learning Center is located at 49 Middle Road in Milton and serves children from ages 6 weeks to 12 years old.  Creative Hands Learning Center was created “under the basic principles that children have a special place in this world and that early childhood education is an essential base to life-long learning.” The Center’s mission is “to provide a safe, warm, nurturing and comfortable environment where children can explore their surroundings, and create an understanding of the world around them.”
Creative Hands owner Jami Parrow speaks of her commitment to the Apprenticeship Program: “When one caregiver enrolls in the Apprenticeship Program it shows others that it is possible to learn more about early education and help the program as a whole. Incentives will be given to caregivers that want to further their education and make the program stronger.”

Apprentice Brittany Hatin began at Creative Hands in February of 2010 and signed up for the Apprenticeship Program in August.  Brittany is a graduate from the Northwest Technical Center Human Services class and came to the Program with Certificates of Proficiency, which earned her credit for 150 work Process Hours. She recognizes the important professional development opportunities offered by the Program. Brittany writes, “The program will give me the chance to really look at each aspect of child development and how I am fulfilling that each da y for the children I work with. I will have the opportunity to have someone, who is more experienced than I am, observing me and giving me advice. This program will also help me receive more college credits that I can put towards an Early Childhood Education degree and that will put me that much closer to my goal”

Mentor/Director Jami Parrow completed the Apprenticeship Program in 2007 and holds a Step One Program Director Credential for Early Childhood and Afterschool Professionals. Jami sees the importance of the Program and looks forward to mentoring Brittany. She writes, “The apprenticeship appeals to me because I know how helpful it is to an early educator. Having completed the program myself I know it helps gain useful knowledge and skills. These skills are then seen used in the classroom setting everyday making the program thrive. I am very eager to mentor Brittany and share skills such as lesson planning, classroom management, understanding child development and many more! I feel it is a continuation of learning in this field and we will both continue learning with each other.”
