Formerly the Rainbow Club

Central VT Medical Center Childcare Center is a not-for-profit, state licensed child care program for children six weeks to six years of age. They offer full-time, part-time and after-school care, with the reliability and flexibility essential in today’s family life-style.

CVMC Childcare was established in 1989 to serve the employees and families of Central VT Medical Center. Today it continues to support the Medical Center and serves other children living in Central VT.

The Center’s program is based upon the philosophy that the child develops most successfully from a positive self-concept. In a relaxed atmosphere, children are encouraged to learn and create at their own pace. We provide enrichment activities for all ages such as field trips to museums, farms, local municipalities and nursing homes, guest speakers and nature walks. The center is located on Airport Rd in Berlin with four acres of land, as well as a fenced-in play area.

Registration day for Sarah Davis (Aprrentice) August 2001
with Lynn Cayia (Supervising Teacher)
and Renee Vincent, US Dept. of Labor,
Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training (BAT)

Sarah Davis, apprentice writes:
"I have been working in the field of child care for over 20 years. I owned and operated a family child care home for 4 years before coming to CVMC in 2001 as an infant teacher. I love working with children; they are the most honest people one could ever meet.

I am enrolled in the Apprenticeship Program and love the fact that I get an education and get paid to do it! The staff here at CVMC is very supportive and caring."

Sarah Davis and a happy baby!

Lynn Cayia, Sarah’s Supervising Teacher writes:
I have worked at CVMC for almost 13 years. I work in the infant room and have recently become the Program Coordinator for the Center. My career began as a nurse, but changed to a child care provider when my sons were young. I have been a part of the Apprenticeship Program since it began in 2000. I have been the Supervising Teacher for 2 apprentices as well as taken 2 College Courses: the Supervisor’s course and Early Childhood Program Management. I enjoy working with children the most, but have accepted the challenges of working with adults, also.
