St. Paul’s School is a dynamic and friendly school in the heart of Vermont's North East Kingdom. Located at 85 St. Paul Lane in Barton, the school serves students in pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade and is proud of its tradition of academic excellence. St. Paul’s has been educating successful students in the Christian way of life for 112 years. Teachers maintain an environment of mutual respect and loving discipline that promotes intellectual, spiritual, emotional and social development. As their website states, the St. Paul’s curriculum is based on Vermont’s Framework of Standards, and students meet Vermont’s Grade Level Expectations. The curriculum is aligned with that of the local school district. St. Paul's School graduates are very successful. They are independent lifelong learners. St. Paul’s joined the family of the state Registered Apprenticeship Program in 2007 and currently is supporting one apprentice mentor team. Apprentice Amy Dalpe was born and raised in the North East Kingdom and has strong roots in the community. After 12 years of working for a professional photo lab, she worked for an attorney providing private child care, in addition to secretarial work, as needed. Interested and invested in working with and for children, she coordinated the Success by Six programs at the Albany school and started working as a paraprofessional for individuals at the St. Paul’s School. She joined the Apprenticeship program in the fall of 2007. She writes, “The children and families I serve will benefit from my work as an apprentice on many levels. When a person strives for growth and self-improvement, and is able to do so in a positive, constructive manner, everyone wins!” Mentor Stacey Lemire earned a BS in Elementary Education in 1998 from Lyndon State College. She has extensive teaching experience in the classroom at St. Paul’s and working with children with special needs. She is supporting Apprentice Amy Dalpe in the 1st and 2nd grade room. She writes, “Mrs. Dalpe and I will gain knowledge, strategies, and experience from one another, which in turn will benefit the students in the classroom.” |
