Assessment Tools

The Vermont Registered Child Care Apprenticeship Program's Assessment Tools have been developed and “field tested” by apprentices and mentors. This resource is designed to support and document growth in the knowledge and skills needed by all early childhood and afterschool professionals.

Industry standards, when clearly applied to specific activities, can help new and experienced professionals apply best practice. By clarifying the many critical elements in conducting a typical activity, the learning professional can clearly see what needs to be done and can also identify in incremental steps what is required for success and then focus on the areas of improvement as needed. Learning how to conduct typical daily activities well is important for the developing professional and for those who hire them.

The overarching goal of the Daily Activities Assessment Tools Second Edition is to support professionals in learning how to apply best practice at all times. The daily activities will ultimately merge into a seamless delivery of high quality care and education experiences for children. Hand Washing is one example of typical Daily Activities that occur daily while working with children.
